Authentic

“Coach Wayne Brooks and I first met in the late 1980’s as Assistant Mens Basketball Coaches at Vincennes University. Coach Brooks had just graduated from Seton Hall where he learned from P.J. Carlesimo. Wayne’s work ethic is the absolute best of any Coach I have worked with. He challenges the 24 hour work day and the telephone budget. After he left us at Vincennes, Coach Brooks went to Western Kentucky as assistant Mens Coach under Head Coach Ralph Willard and alongside Tom Crean. Wherever Coach Brooks has gone, success has followed. Wayne’s knowledge of the fundamentals of basketball is outstanding. Wayne’s staples his programs with a tremendous defensive philosophy mixing in man to man, along with zones and pressure keeping his opponent always adjusting and off balance. In my opinion, with all these outstanding assessments, Wayne’s greatest attribute is the loyalty he brings to his programs both as a Head Coach and as an assistant. Coach Brooks is honest to a fault, reliable, and has no weaknesses in his resume’ when it comes to basketball. It is my privilege to call Wayne a Coach, and even greater honor to call him friend. Wayne and I have had many conversations about keeping our circle tight, and we both agree that the word Coach carries many qualities. Wayne possesses all these qualities and is without any doubt in my ‘starting 5’ as Coaches who I have met. There is nothing fake about Wayne as a Basketball Coach or, even more importantly, as a person. My life has been blessed by having Wayne as a friend, and I can guarantee yours will be also. May life’s scoreboard always shine in your favor.”
