Sheridan played his high school basketball at Eastern Greentown HS, IN, for the legendary Duane Keisling. Upon graduation, Derek played one-year of junior college basketball at Gogebic Community College, MI, and then transferred to Huntington College, IN, where he played for Hall-of-Fame coach, Steve Platt. After graduating from Huntington College, Derek began his teaching and coaching career. Coach Sheridan’s career path took him and his beloved wife, Stephanie Sheridan to the following schools: Huntington Community Schools, IN; 6th-Grade ‘C’-Team coach Oak Hill HS, IN; head freshman coach and varsity assistant for the legendary Coach Flava Sirk. Lakeview Christian HS, IN; athletic director, physical education teacher, and head boys’ basketball coach. Hammond Gavit HS, IN; physical education teacher and head boys’ basketball coach Washington Sr. HS, OH; assistant athletic director, physical education teacher, and head boys’ basketball coach. Maumee City Schools, OH; physical education teacher and head boys’ basketball coach. Central Catholic HS, OH; varsity assistant basketball coach. Coach Sheridan’s close friend, TJ Hunt asked him to join his staff and Derek couldn’t resist becoming TJ’s assistant at the prestigious Central Catholic HS. Delta HS, OH; head boys’ basketball coach. Delta’s Superintendent, Ted Haselman, and athletic director, Drew Hange, asked Derek to take over Delta’s boys’ basketball program. Sheridan took the reins at DHS and had a great time coaching the Delta Panthers (while teaching for Maumee City Schools) and due to an unfortunate medical diagnosis was forced to step away from coaching again. Retired from coaching in 2017 and is still teaching physical education classes for MCS. After being out of coaching for a couple of years, Derek started the Rustbelt Basketball Coaches’ Network, LLC. (RBCN). Coach Sheridan and his handpicked staff have worked hard to grow their coaches’ network.
